About the Area

Stafford

You won’t need to go far to discover a variety of dining and entertainment options in our local area. From Middle Eastern to American, Chinese to authentic Mexican, you’re not far from satisfying your palate. Shop every week at the Stafford Marketplace with Kohl’s, T.J. Maxx, Target, Lowe’s, Starbucks, and more. Keep up with Hollywood at the Regal Aquia Movies 10, which shows first run movies daily. Hope Springs Marina on beautiful Aquia Creek is the place to go for boat lovers just minutes from the Potomac River. Or check out Holiday Harbor Marina’s campground on the waterfront for boating, fishing, and water skiing.

Historic Fredericksburg

Historic Downtown Fredericksburg is best known for the University of Mary Washington, its civil war landmarks, battlefields, and the many places where George Washington frequented. With an abundance of awesome colonial American, Victorian, and early 20th-century architecture, it’s also a nice example of small-town America with a fast-growing art, food, and design scene. Events include Greek heritage, Oktoberfest, dog parades, Bastille Day, home and garden tours, and more.

The Nation’s Capital

Washington, D.C. is steeped in history, culture, and attractions. This metropolis boasts countless sights to see from The National Zoo to the Library of Congress. Entertainment and education come together for tours of national monuments, exhibits at the Smithsonian museums, capitol building, and the White House. Events include professional sports games, National Cherry Blossom Festival, White House Easter Egg Roll, parades, National Symphony Orchestra concerts, National Christmas Tree Lighting, and more.

Eat, Drink, Play, & More

 

The Embrey Mill® community is close to just about everything. Great shopping, restaurants, and attractions include highly acclaimed golf courses, water sports, historic places, museums, parks, and theaters. Head south to Central Park Mall and Spotsylvania Towne Centre. Five exits up I-95, you’ll find Potomac Mills Mall and Stonebridge Town Center, which features the popular food market, Wegmans.

    Quaint cafés, soul food, Thai, Middle Eastern, authentic Mexican, Vietnamese. You’re not far from just about anything you might crave. Local coffee shops, Greek, Chinese, American, Japanese, and Italian food are all within close reach of the Embrey Mill community. It's a foodie's paradise.

    Golf till your heart’s content on nearby courses. Highly acclaimed golf courses in the area include Augustine Golf Club in Stafford, Gauntlet Golf Club in Fredericksburg, and Medal of Honor Golf Course in Quantico.


    Embrey Mill is surrounded by parks in every direction. Some of the most memorable are Curtis Memorial Park in Fredericksburg, and Smith Lake Park and Civil War Park in Stafford.


    Beyond swimming at our community pools, residents can enjoy fun in the water at such localities as Stafford’s Aquia Landing Waterfront Park, Hope Springs Marina, and Virginia Outdoor Center, as well as the Rappahannock area YMCA locations.

  • Shop

    Shop till you drop at one of many nearby shopping centers, including Stafford Marketplace with Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Lowe’s, and Target. Just up the road from the Embrey Mill community, the Shops at Doc Stone Commons include Home Depot, Petco, and Pier1.     Smithsonian Museums. The federal institution has multiple museums scattered throughout Washington, DC. Ten of the museums are located on the National Mall, within a one-mile radius. National Gallery of Art. The world-class art museum in DC displays one of the largest collections of masterpieces in the world including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and decorative arts from the 13th century to the present.     Riverside Center Dinner Theater. The center of a thriving cultural arts community in Fredericksburg, the Riverside Center has hosted over 60 main-stage Broadway musical productions and over 100 musical adaptations of popular children’s stories in the Children’s Theater. Regal Aquia Movies 10. Right off I-95 at Exit 143, this ten-screen theater shows first-run movies, seven days-a-week. Paragon Village 12 consisting of a movie theater, upscale bowling facility, and a restaurant. Nearby slugging lines are a popular form of carpooling, and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) takes you directly into the Washington, DC Metro Area, Brooke Station is the closest VRE to the community. Residents can look forward to the planned onsite fire station and library. Additional services include the Stafford County Fire Department and Porter Library in Stafford.
