Summer is here, and you know what that means… Fun in the sun! We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to start enjoying all of the festivities that come with the warm and sunny weather. Are you? If your answer is yes, grab your calendar and get comfortable because you’re not going to want to miss out on our 2018 Summer of Embrey community events. From movie nights under the stars and live music to yoga classes and car shows, we know there’s something that’s sure to catch your eye.

Not a resident of Embrey Mill? No problem. Live and play the Embrey way with a free day pass to explore life at Embrey Mill, including meeting many of our amazing residents and participating in exciting event offerings. If you’re a big movie buff, we’ve got you covered. Starting in June, we will be showing family friendly films once a month that are sure to inspire, motivate, teach life lessons, and bring lots of laughter. Got your pencil ready? Let’s go! On June 16 at 8:30pm in Festival Park, come join Peter Rabbit and his three sisters in their mischievous adventures as they butt heads with their new neighbor in the brand-new film, Peter Rabbit. On July 28 at 8:30pm in Festival Park, follow Miguel, and his new friend Héctor, on their journey to understanding Miguel’s family history and making his dream of becoming a musician come true with a viewing of Pixar’s Coco. On August 13 at 8:30pm in Festival Park, travel back in time to 19^th century France with Leap! Follow two best friends, Félicie and Victor, on their voyage from their rural orphanage to their dreams of becoming a ballerina and inventor. And last but not least, on September 2 at 8:30pm at the Embrey House Pool, we’re inviting all of our adults and teens to a viewing of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Will these four high school friends be stuck in a video game’s jungle setting forever? There’s only one way to find out!

Remember those cool field trips you used to go on when you were a kid where you got to meet and interact with exotic animals? We do too, which is why we’re bringing the action to Embrey Mill. On June 23 at 11am, Aspen Field will be showcasing Reptiles Alive, an exciting show that will give you and your kids a chance to learn all about the world of reptiles. The guide will bring you through the history of each exotic animal and fill you in on all of the secrets and unique stories that will no doubt make you “ooh” and “ahh”. Don’t worry, the Reptiles Alive show will feature actual reptiles and may include a boa or python, a tortoise, lizards, and much more. Who knows what you might encounter?

Everyone likes music, right? Whether you play an instrument, sing, dance, or just like to tap your foot to the beat, we bet you’ll love the performances we have lined up for this summer. On August 4 from 7-9pm at the Grounds Bistro & Café, two-man band Something Shiny, based out of Springfield, VA, will be bringing their acoustic rock n’ roll style to Embrey Mill. Plan to be taken back in time with music spanning 5 decades and ranging in genre. On August 25 from 7-9pm at Grounds Bistro & Café, Fredericksburg, VA-based jazz band, Dangerous Kitchens, will be performing hits that fall under the bebop, modal, and Latin jazz styles. (Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!)

If your trivia skills are a little rusty, now’s the time to brush up and get studying! Every Monday night at 7pm, the Grounds Bistro & Café will be hosting trivia night. Grab your family and friends and start building your team – but choose wisely! There’s going to be some serious competition there. Will you come out as our winner?

Calling all car fanatics! On August 12, take a “brake” from your Sunday chores and come join us for our Summer of Embrey Car Show. Featuring muscle cars from Stafford, VA’s 610 Car club, this event is perfect for all of our car loving residents (we’re looking at you, dad). Stay tuned for the show’s time and location!

Discover your inner namaste this summer! From June to August, Latitude Yoga will be holding yoga sessions for Embrey Mill residents at the Pavilion in Festival Park. Every Thursday morning from 9:30-10:15am, all families are welcome to start their day with peace and tranquility. If you’re looking for a kid-free session, no worries! Adult yoga sessions will also be held every first and third Thursday of the month from 7-8pm. While most of our Summer of Embrey events are open to residents and those who sign up for day passes, both of our yoga events are for residents only.
