There is snow falling in the mountains so now is the time to enjoy the wide variety of outdoor winter fun Virginia has to offer. Virginia’s Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains are home to four ski resorts that offer downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Fortunately, for our residents they are all just a day trip away from Embrey Mill. It’s fun for the whole family from beginner skiers to the most experienced. Here are a few resorts we recommend, that are all within driving distance. 

It’s no secret that as the air gets crisper and the sun goes down earlier that it’s harder to get the kids outside to play. Especially this time of year, after they have collected all sorts of new toys from Santa, most are content waiting for spring to arrive for outside activities to resume. However, here at Embrey Mill, with so much open space, parks and trails, it can be the perfect Winter Wonderland to play, explore, and spend family fun time together. Here are some ideas to encourage the kids to be curious and creative right here in their own neighborhood.

With four years in, the development, Embrey Mill has sparked many questions. We thought it might be helpful if we answered a few of the more common ones in one forum.

The sun was barely awake as ghosts and goblins, clowns and emoji’s started their stretching to prepare for the Second Annual Halloween 5k and Monster Mile Saturday morning.  The Jeff Rouse Center and Embrey Mill sponsored the race with 377 registered racers.

If you’ve been to Dogwood Dog Park in Phase 1, you’ve probably noticed the fenced-in area immediately to the right of the entrance. This area has massive aluminum planter boxes with a variety of gorgeous plants growing in them. This is our community garden, made exclusively for the use of residents living in Embrey Mill.

Our pool is equipped with five lap lanes separate from the kid’s splash zone area. The Fitness Center at the Embrey House is armed with plenty of cardio and weight training equipment.  If you want to enjoy the great outdoors take a walk/run on our Rocky Run Trail.
